Terms and Conditions

Last updated Oct 4, 2026

This is an English translation of Rento’s General Terms and Conditions (Allgemeine Geschäftsbedingungen), provided for your convenience. Where the language versions differ, the German version prevails (§ 28).

§ 1 Provider and scope

These General Terms and Conditions apply to the use of the “Rento” website, iOS app and Android app, and to the booking, reservation and brokerage services offered through Rento.

The provider of the platform and the contracting party for the brokerage service is:

Diar Gashi – sole proprietorship (Einzelunternehmen)Werkstraße 2077815 BühlGermany

VAT ID: DE364870970Email: info@rento-ks.com

hereinafter “Rento”.

Rento brokers rental vehicles from legally independent commercial car rental companies, in particular in Kosovo.

Rento is not itself the lessor of the vehicles offered on the platform.

§ 2 Rento’s role and the contractual relationships

Rento provides a digital platform for finding, choosing, reserving and brokering rental vehicles.

A contract for the reservation and brokerage service is concluded between the customer and Rento.

The contract for the use and rental of the vehicle is concluded solely between the customer, as renter, and the car rental company named in the booking.

Rento does not become the lessor, owner, keeper or possessor of the brokered vehicle and does not become a party to the rental agreement.

The rental company is responsible in particular for:

  • providing the booked vehicle,
  • the vehicle’s registration and roadworthiness,
  • the necessary insurance cover,
  • handing over and taking back the vehicle,
  • carrying out the rental,
  • taking and returning any security deposit, and
  • handling damage, accidents, breakdowns and any other matters connected with the vehicle.

The identity of the rental company is shown to the customer in connection with the booking.

§ 3 Customer account

Some Rento features may require a customer account.

As a rule, a customer account may only be opened by persons who are at least 18 years old.

The customer must give complete, current and truthful information when registering and using the platform.

Login details must not be shared with unauthorised third parties. The customer must inform Rento without delay if they suspect that an unauthorised third party has gained access to the customer account.

The customer may request the deletion of their customer account, unless statutory, contractual or legitimate reasons prevent the immediate deletion of certain data.

In particular, deleting a Rento account does not automatically delete documents that a rental company may or must keep under statutory retention obligations or to handle an existing or completed rental agreement.

Details on how personal data are processed and deleted are set out in the Privacy Policy.

§ 4 Guest bookings

Where Rento allows booking without a customer account, the customer receives an individual, private booking link.

The functions enabled for that booking can be used through this link.

The customer must keep the booking link confidential and must not pass it on to unauthorised persons.

Anyone with access to the booking link may, depending on the functions provided, view booking information or use booking functions.

If the customer suspects that unauthorised persons have learned the booking link, they must inform Rento without delay.

For security reasons, Rento may deactivate the existing link and issue a new one.

§ 5 How a booking is made

On Rento, the customer chooses a vehicle, the rental period and, where applicable, extras.

By completing the payment process, the customer makes a binding booking declaration.

Under a separate agreement with Rento, each rental company authorises Rento to accept bookings in its name in accordance with the prices, availability and booking requirements it has set on the platform.

As soon as the online payment required for the booking has been completed successfully, the booking is confirmed automatically. No additional manual confirmation by the rental company is required.

The customer then receives an electronic booking confirmation.

With the booking confirmation, the brokerage contract between the customer and Rento is concluded and the booking of the vehicle becomes binding on the named rental company.

Where all the terms needed for the rental agreement have already been included in the booking process, the rental agreement between the customer and the named rental company is concluded at the same time as the booking confirmation.

A rental agreement later signed digitally through Rento may record and set out in detail the rental relationship already established. Conditions communicated to the customer for the first time after the binding booking that materially worsen the customer’s legal position do not become part of the rental agreement without the customer’s express consent.

§ 6 Holding the dates during payment

During the payment process, the selected rental period is, as a rule, provisionally held for 20 minutes.

After this time, Rento may, for technical reasons, allow a short additional grace period. The holding time shown during the booking process is decisive.

If the required online payment is not completed successfully within this period, the provisional hold may be released automatically and the vehicle made available to other customers again.

Interruptions, delays or failed payments do not result in a binding booking as long as no booking confirmation has been issued.

If a rental company makes a customer an individual vehicle offer through the chat function, the rental period concerned may be held for that offer for up to 30 minutes. If the booking is not completed within that time, the hold may lapse automatically.

§ 7 Prices and the Rento fee

Each rental company sets the price it wants to receive for renting the vehicle (the “company price”).

For its reservation and brokerage service, Rento charges, as a rule, a fee of 10% of the company price.

The Rento fee is added on top of the company price.

Example:

Company price: €500.00Rento fee: €50.00Total price shown, without extras: €550.00

Of this amount, €50.00 is paid online to Rento and €500.00 is paid directly to the rental company in accordance with the booking terms.

The Rento fee is therefore, as a rule, 10% of the company price and not 10% of the total amount shown.

Extras such as child seats, additional drivers or other services offered by the rental company are, as a rule, not part of the basis on which the Rento fee is calculated, unless the booking process expressly states otherwise.

The price of such extras is paid in full to the rental company.

If a discount code issued by Rento is used, the discount is, as a rule, set against the Rento fee. The company price and the prices of extras remain unaffected, unless the offer concerned expressly states otherwise.

The amount shown at checkout is decisive.

§ 8 Payment

The Rento fee is due immediately when the online booking is completed.

Online payment may be processed through a payment service provider used by Rento, in particular Stripe, Apple Pay or other supported payment methods.

As a rule, Rento or the payment service provider used collects only the reservation and brokerage fee owed to Rento.

As a rule, the company price and any booked extras are paid directly to the rental company.

The amount payable to the rental company on collecting the vehicle, or at another agreed time, is shown to the customer before the booking is completed.

As a rule, Rento does not accept these amounts on the rental company’s behalf and does not pass them on to it.

§ 9 The rental company’s rental conditions

The rental itself is governed by the rental company’s conditions.

Before a binding booking, the customer is given the conditions that are essential to the booking decision.

These include in particular, where relevant to the booking:

  • the security deposit,
  • the minimum age,
  • the minimum time the driving licence must have been held,
  • any identity verification required,
  • the essential details of insurance cover and any excess,
  • any mileage limits,
  • the fuel policy,
  • conditions for driving abroad,
  • conditions and any costs for additional drivers, and
  • any other conditions that materially affect the use of the vehicle or the price the customer pays.

The customer must check the conditions provided before completing the booking.

Rento may provide rental companies with a standardised rental agreement template.

This template serves the technical and organisational handling of the rental. The parties to the rental agreement remain solely the customer and the rental company.

The rental company is responsible for ensuring that the terms it uses and its rental business comply with the statutory provisions that apply to it.

§ 10 Digital signing and vehicle handover

The rental agreement may be signed electronically through the Rento platform before the vehicle is collected.

The rental company may allow Rento to insert a company signature or other electronic signature image it has stored into rental agreement documents it has approved.

In doing so, Rento acts as a technical platform provider. A signature stored by the rental company is used on the basis of the authorisation the rental company has given.

At vehicle handover and return, photographs or other records of the vehicle’s condition may be made and stored through the platform.

These records may be used in particular to establish the vehicle’s condition, to handle the rental and to resolve later disagreements.

§ 11 Identity verification

Prior identity verification may be required for certain vehicles or bookings.

For this, the customer may be asked to provide in particular the following documents or information:

  • a photo or scan of an identity document,
  • a photo or scan of the driving licence, and
  • a current selfie or a comparable identity image.

The check may be automated and, where necessary, additionally carried out by hand.

Rento may refuse, suspend or withdraw an identity verification where there are well-founded doubts about the identity, authenticity or validity of the documents, or for other security reasons.

Where technically provided for, the customer may request a manual review.

A successfully completed identity verification may, as a rule, be used for up to 24 months, but no longer than the expiry of the relevant driving licence or identity document.

The period for which a verification status is valid does not necessarily mean that all document copies submitted for the check are stored for the same period.

Details of data processing, retention periods and the verification service providers used are set out in the Privacy Policy.

Certain vehicles may be offered only to customers whose identity has been successfully verified.

Identity and driving licence details required to draw up the rental agreement may be passed to the rental company and included in the rental agreement.

§ 12 Driver requirements

The customer is responsible for ensuring that they, and any additional drivers, meet all the requirements communicated before booking.

These include in particular a valid driving licence recognised at the place of collection, the required minimum age, and the required time the licence must have been held.

If the vehicle cannot be handed over because the customer does not meet a requirement clearly communicated before booking, there is, as a rule, no entitlement to a refund for Rento’s brokerage service, which has already been performed in full.

The customer’s statutory rights remain unaffected.

§ 13 Security deposit

Any vehicle deposit is taken and held by the rental company concerned.

As a rule, Rento does not accept vehicle deposits.

The amount of the deposit and how it is paid are shown to the customer before booking.

The rental company alone is responsible for repaying, releasing or offsetting the deposit, unless Rento has expressly undertaken otherwise.

§ 14 Late return

The customer must return the vehicle no later than the agreed return time.

A delay of up to one hour is, as a rule, treated as a grace period, unless the rental company expressly confirms otherwise.

After this grace period, an amount of 1/24 of the company’s daily price applicable to the vehicle may be charged for each further hour or part of an hour.

The amount may be calculated technically through the Rento platform.

The amount is owed to the rental company and, as a rule, paid directly to it.

Any further claims of the rental company for a significantly late return, in particular for additional damage that can be proven, remain unaffected in accordance with applicable law. Late-return charges already calculated are to be set off against the same damage.

§ 15 If a booked vehicle is not available

If the rental company cannot provide the vehicle bindingly booked, it should, where possible, offer the customer a replacement vehicle of at least equal value at no extra charge.

The customer is not obliged to accept a replacement vehicle that differs materially or is objectively worse.

If neither the booked vehicle nor a reasonable replacement of equal value can be provided, the booking may be cancelled.

In that case Rento refunds the reservation and brokerage fee paid to Rento in full.

Payments the rental company has already received must be repaid by the rental company in accordance with the rental agreement and applicable law.

Any further claims of the customer against the rental company remain unaffected.

§ 16 Cancellation by the customer

At present, the customer cannot end a confirmed booking directly through an automatic cancellation function.

If the customer wishes to cancel their booking, they may contact Rento in particular through the app, the designated support channel or by email.

Rento may then cancel the booking in the system and inform the rental company.

Unless a specific cancellation fee of the rental company was shown to the customer before booking, Rento does not charge any additional cancellation fee on the rental company’s behalf.

Rento’s reservation and brokerage service already performed remains separate from this.

Once the brokerage service has been performed in full, the Rento fee is, as a rule, not refunded if the customer later cancels voluntarily.

The customer’s statutory rights of withdrawal, rescission, price reduction, damages and any other mandatory rights remain unaffected.

If the booking is cancelled because of circumstances for which Rento or the rental company is responsible, § 15 and § 18 apply in particular.

§ 17 No-show

If the customer does not appear at the agreed handover time and contacts neither Rento nor the rental company, the booking may be treated as not taken up after a reasonable waiting time.

In that case the Rento fee is, as a rule, not refunded.

Any further claims of the rental company are governed by the rental agreement and the conditions communicated to the customer before booking.

§ 18 Refunds

Where Rento is obliged to refund a payment it has received, the refund is, as a rule, made to the same payment method the customer used for the original payment.

Rento initiates the refund without delay and, as a rule, no later than 14 calendar days after the reason for the refund arises or a valid notice of withdrawal is received, unless the law sets a different period.

Once the refund has been initiated, the actual credit may take additional processing time depending on the payment service provider, card issuer or bank.

The customer is not charged any additional fees for a refund Rento owes.

§ 19 Right of withdrawal for Rento’s brokerage service

Where the customer, as a consumer, has a statutory right of withdrawal in respect of the brokerage contract concluded with Rento, the customer is informed of this right separately before the contract is concluded.

The customer may expressly request that Rento begin the brokerage service before the statutory withdrawal period has expired.

The right of withdrawal in respect of the paid brokerage service may expire once Rento has performed the contract in full, if the customer expressly requested before the service began that Rento start before the withdrawal period expires, and at the same time confirmed that they know their right of withdrawal expires once Rento has performed the contract in full.

Different statutory rules on the right of withdrawal may apply to the rental agreement for the vehicle itself, which is concluded for a specific date or period.

§ 20 Chat, messages and uploaded content

Rento may provide customers and rental companies with a messaging function for direct communication.

Depending on its technical design, photos, documents or other files may also be exchanged through this function.

Users must not post unlawful content, malware, or insulting, threatening, fraudulent or other content that infringes the rights of third parties.

Personal data or documents of third parties may only be sent where there is a legal basis for doing so and sending them is necessary for the booking or the rental.

Rento may remove content that is unlawful or breaches these terms, or restrict access to it.

Users can report content or other users.

Rento may provide functions for blocking other users.

§ 21 Reviews

After a rental, Rento may allow the customer to review the rental company or the vehicle.

Reviews must be based on a real experience and be objective and truthful.

Manipulated reviews, bought reviews, reviews without an actual booking, and unlawful, insulting or otherwise impermissible content are not allowed.

Rento may check, hold back or remove reviews where there are concrete indications of a breach of these provisions or of statutory provisions.

There is no entitlement to have a review published.

The user grants Rento the simple rights of use needed to display, store and technically distribute their review through the Rento platform.

§ 22 Ranking and highlighted offers

The order in which vehicles are shown on Rento may be influenced in particular by availability, search criteria, location, vehicle features, price, reviews, the rental company’s quality and reliability, and technical and commercial ranking parameters.

Rental companies may be able to buy paid highlighting, known as “Boosts”.

Such paid highlighting may affect the position or visibility of an offer.

Paid highlighting is labelled in accordance with legal requirements.

§ 23 Suspending and closing customer accounts

Rento may temporarily suspend or permanently close a customer account where there is a legitimate reason.

Such a reason may exist in particular in the case of:

  • serious or repeated breaches of these terms,
  • suspected fraud or abuse,
  • forged or manipulated documents,
  • abusive payment chargebacks,
  • endangering other users or rental companies,
  • unlawful content,
  • misuse of the platform, or
  • legal or regulatory obligations.

Where possible and reasonable, Rento will inform the customer of the reason for and extent of the measure.

As a rule, existing paid bookings remain in place.

In exceptional cases, Rento may cancel an existing booking if the reason for the suspension rules out carrying out the booking safely or lawfully.

If the cancellation is not due to conduct for which the customer is responsible, the fee paid to Rento is refunded.

If the cancellation is due to a serious culpable breach by the customer, statutory and contractual claims of Rento and the rental company may remain unaffected.

§ 24 Damage, accidents, insurance and breakdowns

The rental company concerned is, as a rule, responsible under the rental agreement and applicable law for the condition of the rental vehicle, insurance cover, damage, accidents, theft, breakdowns and any other events connected with it.

The customer must report such events without delay, as the rental company requires.

Rento may support communication between the customer and the rental company.

By providing this support, however, Rento does not take on the rental company’s contractual obligations.

§ 25 Rento’s liability

Rento is liable in accordance with the statutory provisions for damage caused by intentional or grossly negligent conduct on Rento’s part.

In the event of a slightly negligent breach of essential contractual obligations, Rento’s liability is limited to the damage that is typical for the contract and foreseeable.

Statutory liability for injury to life, body or health and any mandatory statutory grounds of liability remain unaffected.

As a rule, Rento is not liable for the rental company’s breaches of its obligations under the rental agreement, in particular not for the condition, equipment, insurance, availability or roadworthiness of the vehicle, unless Rento itself caused the breach or is culpably responsible for it.

Rento’s liability for its own incorrect information, its own brokerage errors, or any other breach of its own statutory or contractual obligations remains unaffected.

§ 26 Using the apps

For the duration of permitted use, Rento grants the user a personal, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the Rento app on devices they own or lawfully control, for its intended purposes.

Copying, modifying, reverse-engineering, reselling or otherwise using the app beyond the limits permitted by law is not allowed.

All rights in the software, trademarks, designs, databases and other protected parts of the Rento platform remain with Rento or the respective rights holders.

For an app obtained from the Apple App Store, the usage agreement is concluded solely between Rento and the user, and not with Apple Inc. or any Apple affiliate.

Rento, not Apple, is responsible for the app, its content, maintenance, support and the handling of claims relating to the app, to the extent permitted by law.

Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for the Rento app.

Apple and its affiliates are, where required under the Apple App Store terms, third-party beneficiaries of these terms of use and may enforce the relevant app-related provisions against the user.

When using the app, the user must comply with the terms of the relevant app store and of any other third-party providers that apply to them.

For an app obtained from Google Play, the contract for the use of Rento’s services is likewise concluded solely between Rento and the user. Google is not a contracting party for the services or rental agreements brokered through Rento.

§ 27 Changes to these terms

As a rule, a specific booking is governed by the version of these terms in force when the booking was bindingly completed.

As a rule, a later change to these terms does not retroactively alter bookings already made.

Rento may change the terms for future use of the platform where there is a legitimate reason, in particular because of changes in the law, new features, technical developments, security requirements or changes to the business model.

Rento will inform registered users of material changes in an appropriate way.

Where the law requires the customer’s consent to a change, Rento will obtain that consent separately.

§ 28 Contract language and translations

These terms may be made available in particular in German, English, Albanian, Turkish and French.

The translations are intended to inform users as clearly as possible.

Where the language versions contradict each other, the German version prevails as a rule, unless mandatory statutory provisions or mandatory consumer protection rules prevent this.

§ 29 Applicable law

The brokerage contract between the customer and Rento is governed by German law.

For consumers, this choice of law applies only insofar as it does not deprive them of the protection of the mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country of their habitual residence.

The law applicable to the rental agreement between the customer and the rental company is determined by the rental agreement and by the mandatory statutory provisions.

Jurisdiction is determined by the statutory provisions.

§ 30 Final provisions

Should any provision of these General Terms and Conditions be or become invalid in whole or in part, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected.

An invalid provision is replaced by the statutory provisions.
